We got it !!! We have been battling with a very clever Rat for a couple of weeks but Ha Ha ! - we got him this morning...............
The site with the problem had seen a rat run out between some sacks when they were being moved and that's when we were called in. It was a food site so there was plenty of competing food for the rat to eat so we knew we had a job on our hands in making it go for what we had to offer. This rat was not at all stupid. He (infact a "she") completely ignored our baits, our traps and our tracking dust for many many days. Most people in the Pest Control industry know but not many outside the industry are aware of a thing called "Neophobia" which is especially prevalent in Brown Rats. This - translated literally is a "fear of new things" and makes catching/killing these pests a particularly difficult task. We treated wall cavities with toxic dust to try to kill the rat where it may have been living but the thing that got it in the end was sprinkling a particular food addative onto the traps that we had laid. We were delighted to get a call at half past six (yes - we really were delighted !) this morning to advise us that the pesky varmint had met it's maker !! Here is the celebrity rat with our very own Alan Brown - look at the size of it (and those gnashers !)
